Wesgreen international school is one of the most established schools in Sharjah. Located about 15 minutes from the Dubai border, the school delivers the UK National Curriculum of England and Wales and the Cambridge International Examination Group.
Students are aged from 3-18 years of age and are from the royal family of Ajman and Sharjah. There are also expat students at the school. The teaching population is mainly expatriate coming from native speaking countries like the UK, Ireland, Canada, America, New Zealand and Australia. The majority of the teaching is delivered through text book as the school is looking to move to a more student centred approach of teaching and learning.
The school has some good facilities and has recently expanded to cater for more students. The school promotes that each child learns safely and happily to students the teaching and learning environment. The staff works much like a team and teachers coming to this school should be aware that this is in Sharjah which is more conservative area.
The Early Years department focuses on the EYFS curriculum to ensure students are learning the basic fundamentals so they are well prepared to move into the primary section. The primary sections of the school mainly work through "book packs" and there are regular tests and assessments to ensure students are meeting the correct standards. Arabic is also offered to students where Arabic is not the first language.
Secondary school education delivers the IGCSE and A' level. In years 7 to 8 the school likes to offer a broad range of subjects. Students then go on to select subject form French, Urdu and Arabic. As this is a key period for students, there are bespoke classrooms for subject like Science, ICT and Art.
