The Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) was established in 2005, by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, the UAE President, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and the Ruler of Abu Dhabi. Additional Information
  1. Working Hours are 35-40 hours/week, 5 days a week (Sunday - Thursday)
  2. Class sizes vary but are usually between 15-30 students
  3. Vacation varies between mid-July to September; plus all national holidays
Schools are divided into:  
  1. Kindergarten (Early Years) 
  2. Cycle 1 (Primary), 
  3. Cycle 2 (Middle School) 
  4. Cycle 3 (Secondary/High School) 
The majority of the students will be local Emirati children and you will be working alongside other Western teachers, Emirati teachers, and Arabic expatriate teachers.

Locations of School Placement

IMPORTANT:  One of the unique features of this program is that teachers are hired directly by  ADEC and therefore can be assigned to one of the 296 schools in one of three areas:
  1. Central Capital Region - Abu Dhabi City
  2. Eastern Region - Al Ain
  3. Western Region - Madinat Zayed, Ruwais, Ghayathi, Liwa, Sir Baniyas, Marfa, Sila and Dalma (island)
Teachers WILL NOT know the location or school they have been assigned to until they arrive for orientation.

If you have your heart set in a city and that is the only place you feel you wish to work for then this program is probably not the most suitable option for you.
