We are seeking a dedicated, experienced, and compassionate Head of Boarding to join a dynamic bilingual school community in the suburb of Beijing.
The bilingual school combines the strengths of Chinese and international education, offering a bilingual, bicultural learning environment that nurtures academic excellence, global citizenship, and personal growth. The boarding provision plays a crucial role in creating a home-from-home environment that supports students' wellbeing, character development, and academic success.
The Role
As Head of Boarding, you will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of our residential life programme. You will ensure that students are safe, happy, and thriving in a nurturing and structured boarding environment. You will work closely with pastoral staff, house parents, and the senior leadership team to uphold the highest standards of care and safeguarding.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the boarding houses
- Lead and support boarding staff to deliver high standards of pastoral care
- Develop and maintain a strong sense of community, inclusivity, and discipline
- Ensure the implementation of safeguarding and child protection policies
- Foster strong relationships with parents, keeping them well informed and involved
- Organise a vibrant programme of evening and weekend activities
- Promote student wellbeing, resilience, and personal development
Person Specification
Essential:
*Significant experience in a leadership role within a boarding environment
*A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
*Culturally sensitive with a global mindset
*Commitment to the holistic development of young people
*Bachelor's degree or equivalent; relevant pastoral or educational qualifications preferred
Desirable:
*Experience working in a bilingual or international setting
*Familiarity with British and/or Chinese educational systems
*Boarding Schools’ Association (BSA) training or equivalent
