Lead Academic Excellence as Head of Department (HOD) in Qatar
Location: Qatar

Are you an experienced and passionate educator with a strong track record of academic leadership? We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Head of Department (HOD) to join one of Qatar’s top international schools. As the HOD, you will oversee the direction, management, and development of your department, ensuring high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment across all grade levels. Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Vision: Lead and manage the academic direction of your department, ensuring it aligns with the school’s overall educational philosophy and objectives. Set clear goals and strategies to achieve departmental success.
  • Curriculum Development & Implementation: Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of the department’s curriculum to ensure it meets international standards and addresses the needs of diverse learners.
  • Teaching & Learning: Ensure the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning within the department, promoting innovative instructional practices, differentiation, and student-centered approaches.
  • Staff Development & Support: Provide leadership and support to departmental staff, including mentoring, coaching, and facilitating professional development opportunities to improve teaching effectiveness.
  • Assessment & Monitoring: Monitor student progress and implement data-driven strategies to enhance academic performance. Conduct regular assessments and provide constructive feedback to students and staff.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues, school leadership, and other departments to promote a cohesive and interdisciplinary approach to education. Foster a positive, collaborative culture within the department.
  • Resource Management: Oversee the budget and resources for the department, ensuring effective allocation to support teaching and learning needs.
  • Professional Standards & Compliance: Ensure that departmental practices comply with school policies, national regulations, and international best practices.

Job Requirements

  • Educational Leadership: A Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a relevant subject area is required.
  • Experience: At least 3-5 years of teaching experience, with a proven track record of leadership and success in a departmental or academic management role.
  • Curriculum Expertise: Strong knowledge of curriculum design, implementation, and assessment practices, preferably in an international school context.
  • Leadership & Management Skills: Excellent leadership and management abilities with the capacity to inspire, motivate, and guide colleagues in achieving departmental goals.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with staff, students, parents, and school leadership.
  • Organizational Skills: Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and coordinate departmental activities.
  • Cultural Awareness: Experience working in a diverse, multicultural environment, with a sensitivity to different educational backgrounds and cultural norms.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Arabic is an advantage.
