Guidance Counsellor

The school is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Guidance Counsellor to support students’ academic, personal, social, and emotional development. The successful candidate will provide individual and group counselling, career guidance, and university preparation while promoting student well-being and resilience within the school community.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Support & Counselling:
*Provide individual and group counselling to support students with personal, social, emotional, and academic concerns.
*Assist students in developing coping strategies, self-awareness, and conflict resolution skills.
*Offer crisis intervention and mental health support, referring students to external specialists when necessary.
*Work closely with teachers, parents, and school leadership to address student well-being.
*Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all counselling practices.
Academic & Career Guidance:
*Support students in setting academic goals and improving study skills.
*Provide career counselling and university guidance, including assistance with subject choices, university applications, personal statements, and interview preparation.
*Organise career fairs, university visits, and guest speaker sessions to expose students to diverse career paths.
*Guide students through scholarship and financial aid opportunities.
School Programmes & Initiatives:
*Develop and implement student well-being programmes, such as anti-bullying initiatives, stress management, and mental health awareness.
*Conduct workshops and training sessions for students, parents, and staff on topics like mindfulness, resilience, and emotional intelligence.
*Collaborate with teachers to integrate social-emotional learning (SEL) strategies into the curriculum.
Pastoral & Professional Responsibilities:
*Build trusting relationships with students, parents, and staff.
*Maintain accurate and confidential student records.
*Stay updated on best practices in counselling, child psychology, and career guidance.
*Participate in staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development.
Requirements:
*A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
*A recognised qualification in school counselling or career guidance.
*Experience working as a school counsellor or in a similar student support role.
*Knowledge of child and adolescent development, mental health issues, and counselling techniques.
*Familiarity with university admissions processes (IB, IGCSE, or national systems) is an advantage.
*Strong listening, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
*Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
*Ability to handle sensitive issues with confidentiality and professionalism.
