Our client is a non-profit bilingual school located in the beautiful Shanghai city, offering a unique Year 1 - 12 educational programme that integrates elements of Shanghai and international curricula, culminating in Years 9-12 with the IGCSE and IB Diploma Programmes, which are complemented by core components of the Shanghai curriculum.
The bilingual school is currently seeking an experienced and outstanding Head of Chemistry/Science to join them in the next academic year. The role will be responsible for the Chemistry or Science department consists of 3 and 12 full time teachers respectively.

An ideal candidate should have:
*Bachelor's degree or above in related field required
*5+ years’ experience from an established/high achieving school
*Working experience in bilingual school is highly desirable
*Have a track record of success in Chemistry both inside and outside the classroom
*Natural leadership qualities, with a capacity to initiate and manage change with flair and creativity

The key responsibilities are likely to include:
- To have overall responsibility for the leadership and management of the chemistry department.
- To have overall responsibility for the quality of teaching and learning within the department and to be responsible for the public examination results achieved by the department.
- To have overall responsibility for the organization and quality of concerts and chemistry performances throughout the year.
- To oversee the overall performance of students in chemistry and to ensure that the most able are stretched and challenged and those who do not find success easy in chemistry have clear action plans for differentiated help and support
- To ensure that the Performance Reflection and Enhancement Process is carried out within the department.
- To lead the regular departmental meetings and to ensure that best practice is shared within the department and that appropriate collaborative planning takes place.
- To ensure that course outlines, units of work and lesson plans are up-to-date, comprehensive and for Year 11 and 12 congruent with IB policies and practices
