My client is a leading British Curriculum School located about 15 minutes from Dubai in the Emirate of Sharjah. This is one of the largest schools in the area with a mainly Emirati population of students. Teachers are mixed and come from many nationalities but all deliver the UK national curriculum.
The school is well furnished and has mainly an Islamic ethos throughout the school, where respect and tolerance are highly valued. If you have worked in an Islamic faith school before you will understand the culture of the school well. Students are very lively but keen on getting the best grades.

This International School, Sharjah is a flourishing Nursery to Grade 13 school that provides a high quality education service leading to internationally recognised examination qualifications (IGCSE) and AS levels with student access to higher education, both in the UK and worldwide. The School opened in 1991 and has undergone an extensive building programme over the past decade, which is now near completion. There is an early years’ campus for children from Nursery to Grade 1, a separate campus for Grade 2 to Grade 4 (Primary) and the Main Campus which houses separate Senior Girls and Boys Schools.
The School was purpose built and opened in September 1991. The Senior School facilities are equally impressive, with separate departments for English, Maths, Science, Humanities, Art and Design, and Languages. There is a Sports Gymnasium and PE facilities, Science and IT Laboratories. The school also benefits from Rugby and Soccer fields adjacent to the Senior School, and swimming. There are separate libraries and ICT facilities in each of the schools. In the 2008-2009 academic year, there will be approximately 2200 students from Nursery to Year 13. These numbers are very impressive and predicted enrolments are very strong. Our student population is a rich international and multi-cultural mix, with approximately 35 nationalities represented, the largest single group coming from the UAE, other Middle East countries and Asia as well as a small number from UK, USA. The School is in the process of receiving CIS Accreditation. Parents predominantly, though not exclusively, come from a professional background and have high academic aspirations for their children who themselves are highly motivated. There are over 200 (full-time equivalent) teaching staff supported by a dedicated technical, administrative and maintenance staff. The teaching staff, recruited both locally and overseas, are well qualified, experienced and highly motivated.
The curriculum followed is largely based on that of an English National Curriculum school, while also taking into account the Islamic dimension of the school’s location and the diverse make up of the student population. The English National Curriculum has been largely adopted, but suitable modifications have been made, where necessary, based upon the professional judgments of staff. Arabic is a compulsory for all students. Outside visits and residential expeditions are integral parts of the curriculum in the Senior School. They include UAE based expeditions and Humanities trips to the other Emirates.
