UAE Teaching License (TLS)

Step by Step Guide to Getting your TLS

The United Arab Emirates has launched a Teaching License Certificate (TLS) which is mandatory for all educators in the country.  Once you join your school you will have up to 3 months to apply and obtain this license based on your position.
There are 3 types of licenses that can be acquired:
  1. Teacher License
  2. School Leadership License
  3. School Professions License
There are 2 status types for the Education Professional License
  1. Transitional License - temporary permit issued by the Ministry of Education that allows the educator to practise his/her job in the field
  2. Certified License - a full permit issued by the Ministry of Education after meeting ALL requirements of the license, which enables its holder to practice his/her job in the educational field.

Document Attestation (Pre-Step 1  & Step 3): Your degree and transcripts and teaching license (if you have it) must be notarised and fully attested by Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and UAE Embassy, where the document originally comes from.  This is a MANDATORY part of the process and the cost for this must be borne by the employee.
