UAE struggling to find high quality teachers!

The UAE is struggling to find enough high quality teachers. Yes its true!

The United Arab Emirates has for some time been a keen destination for teachers to live and work. However UAE school operators are struggling to fill enough teaching vacancies with excellent teachers.

Dubai is attracting investors to spend their money in education. There is a rise of schools in the region with about 4 to 5 new schools opening each year. Gems Education is one of the largest private organisations in the UAE along with Sabis and International School of Chouifat which are heading more to spending their money on teachers CPD.

Previously finding native teachers with excellent experience was difficult to come by, but with economic trends changing in the west it is causing more and more expatriates to leave their home country for better pastors, which in turn is also creating more of a demand of getting better teachers whilst putting the pressure on rising salary expectations.

Schools are struggling to find enough high quality teachers to keep up to the demands of education in the region. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority requires all teachers to have their first degree in line with the subject that they teach. Qualified teachers that seem to have different degree’s in their teaching area are finding it more and more difficult to secure a teaching job unless they have already been approved by the Ministry of Education through the public framework

Agencies such as SeekTeachers are constantly being asked more specific requirements by their clients to find the right teachers for their schools. Even where a teacher would be deemed qualified in their home country, does not by default mean they would secure a job in the United Arab Emirates due to rising expectations and also demand from the Ministry of Education.

Dubai wants to raise the standards and both KHDA and Abu Dhabi Education Council have enforced this rule upon private schools. The benchmark for experience has gone from 0 to 2 while more and more teachers apply. One of the key reasons for teachers leaving the Emirates is because of the high cost of living and so normally teachers will do a 2 years and look to move on.

SeekTeachers will be looking to host a number of Recruitment Fairs from January 2015. If you want to secure your next teaching job in the United Arab Emirates and be shortlisted for Recruitment Fairs, apply now with SeekTeachers, a market leading recruitment consultant helping find excellent qualified and experienced teachers, teach abroad!
