Many teachers get confused between “private” and “public” school as they consider it to be the same, but these are two different things. This article will be emphasising the major differences in public and private schools.

Private school fees, tuition vs. public school

Public schools involve no cost at all meaning there are no teaching fees except charges for school meals depending or trip fares. However, private schools, on the other hand, can cost more than £1000 – £3000 per annum depending on if it’s a normal school or boarding school with additional fees for resources or any trip coverages.

Student Populations at private vs. public school

Public schools usually have larger population due to mostly all the children attending the school from the same surroundings and region, but the private school is very niche as only selected students are admitted to the school as private schools focus on strict, higher education than a public school which is available to all no matter what.

Class size in private vs. public school

Overcrowding is very common in public schools than a private school that’s why there’s always complaints about the education system, and the single teacher not being able to control a larger classroom which increases the behaviour management issues so then parents consider private school institutions over public institutions.

Quality of education in private vs. public school

The level of education is excellent in both sectors as the education and leadership team will input all efforts to ensure students are provided with high education, however it can vary as private schools are stricter rules and ethos to follow which ensures students are more disciplined and better in learning than public school students. That’s why more students in private schools top the borough or country due to the excellent level of standards of the school with many campuses of the same school – there are higher rates in outstanding exam results!
